Roger Phillips began his insurance career in 1955 in
a large New York brokerage firm. In 1964 he and his brother,
Harry Phillips, 3rd, created H&R Phillips, Inc., a
full-line brokerage firm. In 1976 they joined with eleven
other firms from different parts of the U.S. to found
the Management Compensation Group, a national company
dedicated to developing strategically oriented solutions
to executive benefit and compensation issues.
Roger is a past president of the Life Underwriters Association
of New York City and the New York Chapter CLU and ChFC.
He received his designation as Chartered Life Underwriter
(CLU) in 1964 and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter
in 1966.
After graduating from Bard College in 1953, Roger served
in the U.S. Army for two years. He and Lorelle, his wife
of forty years, have four children and six grandchildren.
They divide their time between an apartment in Manhattan
and a working farm in Stuyvesant, NY, about two hours
north on the Hudson River. Roger has been a metal sculptor
for over thirty years and is represented by the Marisa
del Re Gallery on 57th Street. He is a past president
of the Artist-Blacksmiths' Association of North America.
He received the Torch of Liberty Award from the Anti-Defamation
League and was the 1998 insurance division honoree of
the UJA Federation.
