The name of the firm was inspired by the
America's Cup
Yacht Race of 1983. Contested for over 140 years, the America's
Cup is the oldest continuous competition in sport. The 1983 race
marked the first time that the challenger had won the cup since
the contest began over a century ago. The key to victory was the
development of a "winged keel," which allowed the challenging
yacht to move faster through the water without sacrificing the
stability for which the keel is essential. Sophisticated
observers were able to “look beneath the surface” to recognize
the significance and value of this innovation.
In a similar manner, Winged Keel Group uses innovation
"beneath the surface" and a commitment to excellence to
distinguish itself in the financial services business. Winged
Keel Group has developed a reputation for the capable management
of long-term financial security strategies for individuals
through our
Private
Clients practice and for corporate executives through
our
Executive Long-Term Disability and Selective Executive Benefits
practices.
